Hi, I was wondering if someone could pass on some sage advise.

I am looking to book a family holiday to Orlando in late September to early October of 2014.
When do you think the best time to book is. I am paying for the flights so no points.

Should I just find the cheapest now and book or wait and see if someone offers any specials. On that note do airlines usually have a window that they have specials in?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Looks like you want to fly during school holidays so you're better off booking ASAP.

The flights will usually be full and sales are only offered when the airline has a surplus of seats to sell.

By booking early you will have better seat selection and be able to ensure you're sitting together.

Sorry to jump in but same question for last week of April BNE/SYD to LAX. Book now for $1500ish or wait for a better fare?

As Hvr states, September is expensive. I've look at flights in the last week of September to europe ~$2500 and the same flight in the first week of October ~$1800

I dont mind travelling late September to come back October if it makes a massive difference in price.

I didnt know if airlines had a preferred time to offer specials on flights.

You may be able to make use of this deal to get to the west coast if price is important, but it may not be quite the dates you want:

Unreal deals to North America - Air New Zealand - Australia Site

SYD - SFO / LAX $1117

Economy Outbound: 4 May - 18 Jun, 15 Jul - 31 Aug, 20 Oct - 30 Nov 2014 & Return: 8 May - 2 Jul, 19 Jul - 31 Aug, 24 Oct - 7 Dec 2014
Two and half hour stopover in Auckland.
1 checked 23kg bag. Can buy extra.
