The FR24 appreciation thread

It got scheduled BNE-SYD three times but only came down today. Finally left for CMB tonight, albeit nearly 3 hours late. Not a scheduled service so probably nearly empty. Wonder why it did not fly straight to Doha?

Repositioning following maintenance in Sin last month, happens on a regular basis

Overflew the RWY twice. Makes me wonder if it was a gear issue. But if so, you think they're return to SYD where there's more comprehensive emergency services.
I have no idea what the actual issue was, but...if you have a gear issue, you don't cycle it. So, a dirty diversion to Sydney is almost certainly not possible.

What do you mean by “cycle it”? Try to get it up and back down again?

What’s the limitation on returning to SYD? Drag and therefore extra fuel burn?

Is overflying the runway twice something you’d expect for a gear issue - asking someone on the ground to take a look?

Who would even do this at a remote port like BHQ? The council employed aerodrome manager perhaps?

Edit: I see QF has confirmed an issue with the landing gear, but not added and specifics.

Yes.

Probably double the drag....

Well, I certainly wouldn't. The aircraft tells me all I need to know.

Oh, a random person. Which is why it's a waste of time.

Storms around std, or maybe just doing a bit of skywriting
I've been watching this arvo after the first round of storms had passed over, and there have been some rather unique patterns. Enjoyable from the ground only - these are mild - the "best" ones have already landed!
