That was fun. Only 73%
The Stans killed me too
For better or for worse they have never been on my travel radar

Telegraph puts out this test weekly I think. Good general knowledge.

93% for me. I mixed up the capitals of Tuvalu and Tonga - knew it when I got to the Tonga question.

I had an app on my phone which quizzed me on the world's capitals. Also did one on flags. Good brain food. Amazing how quickly one can learn from it but also how quickly the knowledge can disappear.

The Traveller IQ test on tripadvisor was great for the obscure capitals and flags too

Back before internet and phones while waiting for buses or planes (as a backpacker) I used to try and list all the US states and sometimes all the world's countries. Always used to forget a couple of states. And plenty of countries.

There's another app where you have to name the world's countries on a blank map although it's divided into continents at least. Also one for USA states.

When I saw the original post I thought it might be this game:

Uses Google Street View and plonks you in the middle of nowhere (well on a road with StreetView imagery somewhere in the world) and you have to guess on a map where you are. Of course you can navigate up and down the road to look for signs for clues. I love being able to work it out very quickly based on criteria like "cars on right hand side", "signs in miles" and types of trees and landscape and guessing which US state. My best guess was recognising a bit of road south of Haast in NZ which had no signs at all - the only hint it was NZ was a Kea Camper but I just recognised it from having driven it in January.

Anyway there's your afternoon wasted!

I doubt I could name every country in the world in 15 years!

73%. A bit of luck and bit of knowledge. We used to have a game I loved as a kid called Journey through Europe. Certainly helped me learn my 1980s European geography.
