I used to stay at the MEL DoubleTree quite a bit. After my first couple of stays the staff got to know that I like to have some soy in my room so I can make a cup of tea.

Since then, at check-in I am always told that some soy is already in my room.

That is a little attention to detail that stands out.

What are the little things that have made the difference for you?

It's always nice when hotels/airlines pay attention to the details.

I like it when the staff make the effort to remember your name. A small touch but shows they care (or at the very least, have a good memory!).

I was impressed once to board an Air Astana flight in business class and be proactively offered a drink that the crew somehow knew I had enjoyed on my last flight, which was with a different set of crew.

So you could say it is a ‘little thing you like’?
Now, where have I heard that phrase before?

The IC Bangkok is now our favourite. On our first stay we were on the side of the building facing west. You heard a loud screeching every time a sky train went around the 90 degree turn to or from Siam station and down to the river. So I put in a equest that we would like a room on the opposite side of the hotel and towards the back. This has been given at every subsequent visit.
Then when first visiting the lounge on a visit we are greeted by name, shown to the table we always sit at and asked if we would like to start with our regular drinks- a glass of Sav Blanc and a Botanicals ( G&T ). Suggests they really do remember us.

On a recent cruise on SilverSea, I approached the breakfast restaurant a second time (ie next day) and the Maitre d' welcomed me by name as I approached. I knew I was going to be in good hands - it made a difference.

Currently making a difference is my tradie (house painter) who is always on time, always texts me with what he's going to do that day etc. Allows me the freedom of the day, not hanging around waiting, waiting, wondering.

And here is me thinking that would be worthy of insertion in ‘Little things I like’ thread 🤷‍♂️

Probably 7-8 years ago now, when my wife had QF P & there was a then-new-ish J lounge in SG which had replaced both the F & J ones that’s been there before, our (morning?) QF flight home had been canned and we were booked a fair bit later that day. Due in part to the cancellation and then just the high volume in general, that lounge got SUPER busy by the time we left, which was probably close to 3hrs after we arrived.
The guy running the place thanked my wife for coming by name, and wished her a pleasant flight to Sydney.

Given just how many people had gone through the place in that time, I was amazed with his memory!
