The Green Gables thread has got a little bit long at over 350 posts so I have decided to start again with our trip home.I will post a summary post of PEI on the Green Gables thread as I know quite a few are interested in going there.

So to start here is the arrival of the ferry in Nova Scotia at Caribou.Close to Nova Scotia we passed an island, obviously inhabited.

The entrance to the Caribou terminal is also pretty narrow.

Now a little tip.On PEI fuel is price controlled and every outlet had the same price.Certainly was cheaper than New Brunswick so I decided to check on price in Nova Scotia. On PEI entry unleaded was 115.8 per litre. We got it at 112.4 when off the ferry.
Here are the links for prices in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

So we will be filling up before leaving Halifax for New Brunswick.

The hotel restaurant had great views but didn't look the goods so we walked a short distance along the road to Governor's Hotel and bar.
The food and service was very good.

We shared a NZ SB.It was an export Spy Valley wine.We shared the calamari which was excellent.
Mrsdrron had the lobster roll and I had the scallops. That is a baked potato some are sitting on.

Definitely a recommendation.

After dinner mrsdrron went back to the hotel and I went for a walk along the waterfront.First our hotel and the cruise terminal.

An interesting memorial to the Merchant Navy.Over 170 convoys left Sydney for the UK during WW2.

Lots of ducks and I found that Nova Scotia understand me better than Australian ducks. They would look around when I quacked.

And our room.

We were running behind schedule so no time for more stops just hightailing it to Dartmouth-basically East Halifax. We were staying at the Delta Hotel. We were upgraded to a suite but it was a weird design with no windows in the bedroom.

1567985530145.jpeg.
The view wasn't much.
1567985570653.jpeg.1567985587838.jpeg.

It was late and we didn't feel like going out.Fortunately the hotel restaurant did lobster rolls so we both had one.
1567985665440.jpeg.
Wasn't too bad either.

At check in we were given a torch as they said they were expecting a power outage.Wondered why until we turned on the news and saw Hurricane Dorian was taking aim at us.So we decided we were cancelling our day trip the next day up to the Bay of Fundy. Also didn't know what the weather would be like on Sunday morning when we were to drive to St.John.So I went down to ask for a slightly late check out just in case the winds were still very strong then. The whole lobby and restaurant were now full of emergency services and they were obviously going to spend the night here.No wonder we were upgraded to a suite-they knew the ordinary rooms were going to be full.

Next morning when we woke we were expecting a bit of rain and wind as the forecast was for Dorian to hit Halifax between noon and 1400.But this is what it looked like.

There is no lounge here but a pantry that elites can access and get extra goodies.
1567986898499.jpeg.1567986916874.jpeg.

By midday this was the view.
1567986960113.jpeg.1567986980014.jpeg.
The spray is from cars on the highway still going at 100 Kph.Madness.
But at 1600.
1567987050871.jpeg.
Dorian went overhead at ~1915.
It was nothing to previous hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons we have been through. We decided to go to dinner early in view of all the Emergency service folk here.Just as well as this is what the restaurant looked like.
1567987192178.jpeg.
In a little while there were about 80 workers here. But not one was female.
We shared a bowl of muscles.Mrsdrron went with the lobster roll again whilst I had scallops on linguine. All washed down by Kim Crawford SB.

1567987403279.jpeg.
The food was pretty good which was just as well as we had no other choice.
One benefit was we were able to watch the US open Women's final and we were able to cheer the Canadian's victory with 80 Emergency workers.

Also a well done to the hotel staff. They were incredibly busy and the executive staff had their sleeves rolled up and working hard mainly delivering food. The kitchen must have been hectic.

When we woke on Sunday there was no rain or wind thought it was cold.
1567987983352.jpeg.
When we got about 70Km from Saint John we detoured on route 111 to see the bay of Fundy.Mrsdrron told me to turn off on a little road.It led to a point with a lighthouse and some pretty good views.
