Jump into the heart of Spain’s culture capital, Madrid. Home of delicious food and stunning art, Madrid never stops moving to its own unique beat of great flavours and fiery passions. Head to Plaza Santa Ana to find some of the best tapas around, before taking on the bustling nightlife with a jug of sangria and some flamenco dancing in old downtown. Upmarket shopping, palaces, cathedrals and art galleries also await budding explorers, as well as the iconic Santiago Bernabeu stadium, home of the legendary Real Madrid.

From 2 June 2016, Cathay Pacific will operate a 4 times weekly non-stop service between Hong Kong and Madrid*. All flights will be on board a 777-300ER aircraft, offering Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class.

Last week I managed to score X2 J award seats on this new CX sector MAD > HKG for next July, simply by doing a random search of classic award's on the Qantas website.
I actually didn't know CX had launched this new route.
Taxes are very small as a result of departing Spain :)
Uber excited.

Yes, that might prove to be handy. A way to north Africa, for instance, without transiting the Gulf.

Sounds great. Most flights seem to be in to Barcelona. Does this mean holiday 2016 is planned amaroo? ;)

Maybe however, 2016 is looking a little busy with January - Italy, Norway, Paris .... May - Upstate NY, NYC, LA.

We really enjoyed our couple of weeks in Spain a few years ago - would love to go back. Ahh, the food, wine, climate....

Sounds like there is some space there in August/September!

The food is excellent in Spain. Would love to go back and also visit Portugal and Morocco. Another one for the list!

I had no wish or inclination to visit Spain until I had to go there for business and was 'stuck' there over Easter. I took off for 4 days around the west (Salamanca, Avila, Segovia, Leon) and north (Gijon, Bilbao) and was utterly hooked. Went back the next year and did Madrid and the south - Toledo, Granada, Seville. Never been to the east though :(; probably never will, as I'm not doing Europe any more.

Absolutely do Morocco - its wonderful to compare the Christian overprint of the Muslim architecture there to the Moorish over-print of the Christian architecture in southern Spain!!

Portugal - sardines grilled on coals at the waterfront at Peniche; Porto which is a global must do as far as I was concerned.

Ooops, sorry, I'm raving ....

Rave away! Always good to hear people's tips of where to go.
I loved the Moorish influence in Spain, especially all the tales i heard at Alhambra. I have only done Barcelona and some of the South. Lots more to see and eat!

Thinking we might fill this spot with a trip to Longreach and Winton ... doesn't sound quite the same :-|

Absolutely, beautiful! Once we tick off a few other places (Sth America, Africa) we'll be heading back for more.
