SO got an op-up on EK Y to J MXP/DXB recently.
He got status matched to Skywards Gold as a QF WP and asked at MXP if he could pay to upgrade to J. CSA went away and checked then came back & said "I've got a surprise for you, due to operational requirements we've upgraded you to Business Class".
Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
