So I've used Fly Ahead a few times when i've had meetings cancelled and been able to get to airport quicker than planned - great

Weds night I have the opposite - booked on the 2030 out of SYD to BNE but just been invited to dinner. To change to the 2130 will be an $80 fee, but as a Gold flyer - what would happen if I turned up late/missed the 2030 - would they put me on to the 2130 without any probs (assuming there is space)?

I've been late to a flight before (legitimate reason - QR screw up) and been automatically put on the next flight, no worries. Would assume they'd be happy to do this too, but wouldn't go telling them you missed your flight to have dinner with someone.



Saver fare (you mentioned an $80 fee so I'm assuming saver)...........Dicey at best (IMO).

Yeah, my opinion as well. Not sure if DJ have a "flat tyre" policy, but it's a potentially expensive way to learn..

If you turn up late they will more than likely put you on the 2130 but no guarantee that change will be complimentary.

But just ask yourself one really important question. What would happen if the 2130 is already full? Are you quite happy to stay in SYD for the night?

I had a flight cancelled MEL>BNE one night, and they ended up putting everyone the could on the last flight, everyone else stayed in MEL for the night. Being Platinum, they chucked me in a Business seat. Now, being late for a flight, I dunno how that'd go down, but it makes for an interesting experiment!!!

I always fly on flexi, so haven't ever had an issue there, have missed some and just been put on the next flight without even having status.

Thanks all :)

I have an apartment here in Sydney so would be no biggy if i had to stay another night

Might be an interesting experiment :)

And yes it's a Saver fare
