Had two 2013 helen and joeys 2013 layla pinos recently that i found in one of the under the house purchases from vinimofo. Stored away for a few years i am guessing but it was one of those 'wow, how good is this' type of wines. I am going to the yarra valley for lunch at noon and did notice their 2018 is $35. Back in the good old 'fo days, this would have landed for about twelve dollars making it one of those older supurb buys. Makes me want to dig out some amelia park shiraz and other stuff under a different part of the house long time tucked away.

hey all

Some help please.
What Pinot would you recommend for a strict budget of $30 (cant go over this even by 1 cent as a challenge)?
Have to be able to buy it from a store and not online.
I was perhaps thinking Dalrymple 2017. Thoughts?

42 Degrees South Pinot Noir 2017 $23.95 at Dan Murphy
Glaetzer-Dixon Nouveau Pinot Noir 2018 $25.99 Dan Murphy

The 42 degrees is perfectly drinkable but for my money try the one from Nick Glaetzer he is on fire as a wine maker in Tasmania.

I assume you mean that you are not allowed to buy the wine online and not that it cannot be available online?

Without knowing your location it's a little hard to recommend, but within this price bracket are Stonier, Giant Steps (2017 not 2018 if possible) Coldstream Hills and Clarence House Estate which are decent sub $30 Pinots. It's an awkward price bracket for a Pinot though, and I think you get a huge jump in quality around the $50 mark.

I presume a price of $30, as opposed to a cost of $30 after using a 5% off WISH gift card to buy a $31.58 bottle?

Assuming that you're in Melbourne:
@ Nicks:
My pick is the Hoddles, though I haven't had the Hazeldene nor the Appellation

Thanks. I'll check those out.. Was in Nick's on Sunday and that's where I got the idea for the Dalrymple.

I have had the 2017 hazeldene and the 2017 hoddles, my pick is the hazeldene. On clearance at Dan’s for around $20 so I bought as much as I could find. I preferred it to the 864 henk aqueduct for drinking now.

Agree with this, I tried the Glaetzer-Dixon pinots at Vin Diemen on the weekend and they were excellent

Paringa Mornington about middle twenties is quite nice but i will be lookig for some others from the lists above.

If you try and like the Appellation enough to want more, then it's cheaper direct from the winery with 15% off until the end of this month, which also includes their single vineyards

In case a similar under $20 competition follows, it's hard to beat 2018 Lethbridge Menage a Noir or Toolangi on clearance at Dan's for $17.78, else 2017 Stonier at Nicks for $19.99
