The Virgin Australia Platinum Room would be an exclusive lounge for the most loyal platinum members. However, It is a bit different to most exclusive lounge offerings.

The entrance to the platinum room is via a lift with chrome doors embossed with the Virgin Maiden, at the end of a long white corridor which seemingly changes colours via LEDs. When the doors open at the platinum room all that can be seen is a frosted glass "water wall". Walking around the "water wall" you are faced with a small corridor, with a small dining area of around six tables and a small illuminated bar. Along the sides of the walls lining the hall are doors, each one leading to a small, personal space. Let's say about eight small rooms.

Each small personal space features:

  • A small Shower, and restroom facilities
  • A comfortable recliner, with blankets and a pillow and a side table and chair if you wish to eat with a guest in private.
  • A flat screen television
  • An iPad with the latest newspapers, and a call button to call staff
Imagine, a private space were you can relax, sleep, dine, drink, work or refresh individually? But have the freedom to dine with others, or mix with those in the regular Lounge.

This, in my opinion, would be truly world class.

I would love your opinions and suggestions - thanks Mish for helping me!

Would never happen.

What do you do in a dinning room?

Nice to have dreams.

It was intended to offer guests spelling lessons

You envisage just 8 Platinum members per lounge? Perhaps for a level 100x what Platinum requires... :-|

As no Platinum level has been set perhaps it will be 10000 SC's and only 8 people will make it.

It is only "for the most loyal platinum members". So only high end platinum members will be offered membership.

I doubt there would be more than eight of them in one city at any one time.

It's more likely to be 1000SC's not 10k, based on Silver and Gold (and this makes sense).

I don't see the point in such wild wishlists. I see giving QF a good run for their money as being the ultimate wish (which appears to be coming true!) :)

Like platinum one? :p but better?

Maybe.......or maybe not!! I heard* a rumour that there will be only 9.8 Platinum One members. The need to have flown through a volcanic ash cloud on QF metal is a tricky criterion to meet on top of the 3600 SC's - all flown on QF flight numbers with a 6 in, but no 4. :p

*Did I say heard? My Bad (I believe this is the expression favoured by modern youth.) I meant started.

I think it's missing the mirrors on the ceiling and the disco ball

If anyone needs this much privacy they should stay at home or fly in their private jet.

It's about offering a quite space were you can escape to whilst traveling. A place you can comfortably sleep, work, have a private phone call or a video conference, have an intimate meal with a guest, or simply a place were you don't have to worry about taking your tie off and doing whatever you want.

A traveler's haven.

But with the option to mingle with other guests at the bar, or head down to the traditional Lounge for some plane spotting and a chat.
