Drake Passage, about 1/3 way through. Still managing a bit of blue sky!

There was a report on Channel 7 news last night of a ship having a treacherous crossing of the Drakes Passage just recently. I don’t recall them mentioning which ship but Google just offered this up. 30m wave…

We saw World Voyager a couple of times in passing. Wow! That dreadful weather pattern is why our captain stayed in a channel for an extra afternoon. Thank goodness!

Edit: I see that incident happened on December 2nd. Still not a good thing to happen, though.

(As a side note, I hate when ships are referred to as an “ocean liner”. There is only one ocean liner around these days, Cunard’s Queen Mary 2. Otherwise there are cruise ships, expedition ships, etc.)

I heard about that at the time. But it also re-assures me that these ships will hold up to a lot. :)

Dear Dr, It must be very discouraging to be so skint that you need to trawl for the cheapest street food.
I am sure we can hand around the hat and collect enough for at least one square meal a day.
So c'mon everyone, here is a good soul fallen on troubled times and clearly in need.
I am good for five bucks……..

I'm about to head to the Caribbean where things are likely to be far more expensive, so I'll take that 5 bucks thanks!

No running water in their homes so have to fill bottles at neighbourhood dispensers.
