Amsterdam?


No, the university city of Leiden. Only 40 km SW of Amsterdam. It has a beautiful city centre with far less tourists.

This morning we visited several venues including the fort and the opera house. Vigeland Sculpture Park was the highlight, though. Vigeland’s wrought iron gates are so beautiful. I could have spent a few more hours in the park.

Vigeland made the statues naked so they wouldn’t date. Clothes would have narrowed the time to one year or decade. Naked allows the imagination to see families interacting, loving, playing, arguing. Timeless.














This afternoon we visited the Norwegian Folk Museum, an outdoor museum incorporating examples of centuries of living. And a stave church from the 1700s.

Our last night in Oslo before Constellation Journeys takes us to Reykjavik. (Not a travel agent. They are a tour provider like APT or Silversea.). We had dinner at the Fram Museum. Actually on the deck of the ship! After dinner we walked through the lower decks of the ship before leaving the museum. How wonderful!

Be there on there on the 18th but departing again on the 20th. Staying at Legian . Back again on 4th for a week. We used DPS as a launch for cheaper J fares to UK, Portugal actually. I know. It's weird.
