We could have caught up for lunch

Sorry Steady, didn't realise you were a local. But we had an ambitious itinerary today, and didn't spend much time there. It was largely a nostalgia visit - I had several holidays here around 1956-58 and was interested to see if anything was familiar. Couldn't spot the little cabins we used, but the beach doesn't look hugely different.

I quite understand, hope you are having a good holiday. I am about 30 minutes east of Boat Harbour, a little inland from Camdale

Boat Harbour is one of my favourites. But my Happy Hour view was of a beach just a little more crowded.

re: The view from my "office"

I used to stop in Ross on my weekly drives between Launie and Hobart when in uni. There was a little take out with an awesome roast pork roll which made for a perfect rest stop.

On our honeymoon (1973), we bought two large crayfish in Hobart, thinking we would have one each for dinner at our motel that night. It turned out half each was enough, and the next day we finished the other one off sitting on the river bank beside the bridge at Ross. So holds a unique place in our memories.

View for too long today. What happens when the Indian government plays around with the currency? One thing is that No one has any small notes to pay tolls, so India being India, you get hundreds of cars and trucks queued up behind, ( including 2 or 3 abreast on the shoulder) with every driver for him or her self. Spent ages in several of these today.

Do you still have that GTS Monaro? I'm guessing 1969 or 1970 model?

Sadly no. It was a HK 1969 model, bought in 1972 and was wiped out by a dumb/half blind unlicensed motorbike rider on a borrowed bike about 1978 when nearly 10yo. Insurers didn't want to repair because it involved the side/end panel that ran from the front door to the rear brake lights, and a bit of chassis alignment as well, and I couldn't afford it either once I got my own quotes. Bike rider only had bruises, I had the tears.

Crying shame. I thought it was a 1970 as the passenger side mirror wasn't fitted in the 1969 model until right at the end of the year.

It was a special order for the wife of a car dealer, had no striping originally and was in fabulous shape and hardly driven when I acquired it. met the previous owner at her house one day while there on government business, and she said she only got rid of it because of the trouble parking it at her house, with narrow garage on a very busy road. It was a fabulous car and handled brilliantly once I get a set of aquajet tires on it.

A very early morning office in India. How many electrical wires do you think we'll hit this time?
