The view from my "office"

Cuy!

Did you try it?

Its actually not too bad. (once you get the image of your pet as a kid out of your mind)

We intended to when we were in Cusco but the restaurant we were at had only one cuy dish on the menu and it didn't sound very appetising. Its food was memorable, but not in a good way. It had been recommended as serving traditional dishes, which it did, but we did not enjoy them greatly.

Yes, the adjective 'traditional' in restaurants, usually means below average food.

First time I had, I didn't even know I did till we had nearly finished. We were staying in a Place called Vinak, in the mountains about 6 hours from Lima. (Alt:3320m) Second day, a yummy looking and smelling stew. Its called Pachamanca.

Didn't ask, just super hungry and dug in. Not until the rat-like skeletal remains appeared at the bottom did it cross our minds. Uffff! Asked to confirm, Si, Senor! was the reply. Oh, Gracias

Inadvertantly ate 'dog' in Xishuangbanna in the mid eighties, wasn't happy when I found out. :(

P.S., It tasted like chicken.........

I only ended up there because I'd flown QR and discovered "So Jennie" their luxury nonalcoholic bubbles (which I prefer to grapetise.) I googled and could only find it selling in Harrods. So the food hall was a most unexpected find:o. Went back the next day too:oops:.

Have you been to Fortnum and Mason - that is amazing. I've got six weeks in London coming up and my google maps is full of stars of saved locations for all the bakeries and patisseries

F&Ms is excellent. Do try to fit in the Wallace Collection (stunning once private art) and the Old Tate - especially for £29 lunch in the wonderful painted dining room.

Ed: I'd love to get to the Elio Altare event! One of the best Barolo producers! Elio Altare wine and dinner - Food and drink at Tate Britain | Tate

MrsTMA has said I should arrange a quick business trip!:)

I don't really know how I managed to "attach" that last image but that's the approach to the home of the Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs (Blenheim, NZ)

Never heard of it. I'm too scared to look! It was painful bringing bottles back from London and hoping at each stop they were still intact.

Ok so I peeked - looks dangerous:p
