The view from my "office"

Oh, eat your collective hearts out. Today's first office is a tour of the O Fornier winery . Tour, tasting and lunch, in a magnificent facility overlooking the high Andes.

I was going to ask about that, but then I got distracted with the appearance of the tasting room.

Here is the winery: labs and admin visible, vats underneath (concrete, stainless steel and French oak); underneath the 'rosemary garden' in the foreground is the cellar room 'cathedral' and tasting area and behind me is the restaurant. All linked underground.

Danged app. I tried to post a few more pics but got the dreaded 'not logged in' message.

The cellar space is the deep central core of the complex. The height (depth) has a lot to do with the whole winemaking operation being gravity fed. The huge fermenting tanks, including within the four enormous cylindrical pillars, surround the 'cathedral' space.

This winery makes even the biggest and best Australian wineries look like garage operations.

That looks like a huge waste of space (height wise)- or would it normally be full?

I think we found the answer at the Salentein winery we visited today. The centre of the cellars are for show - they give concerts there etc. Along the walls are where most of the barrels are; there are a great number 'behind the scenes' at Salentein (much, much more than the second pic indicates), and I suspect the same at O Fornier (where we didn't go onto the cellar floor)

Very impressive ... but in the words of Jack Sparrow "you need to get yourself a women"!

Alternatively, if you are a woman ... "you need to get yourself a man"!

Frivolity aside, the pic is fabulous and I'm impressed by your skill and passion! ;)

Thats why I spend my time down the beach at sunset... waiting for all these women who write "I like walks on the beach at sunset" on their dating profiles.

Mobile office traversed the Andes from Mendoza to Santiago today.

Across the top ... We think this was Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Andes and anywhere outside the Himalayas at 6,961m.

... and a condor eye's view of part of the descent on the Chilean side.

This was the second set of switchbacks. At the top we started at:
