Why does a 7.00am flight seem such a good idea....... until you need to get up at 4.00am?
We started our mini SR this morning: DCA->PHX->DFW->LAX with a little trepidation, but DCA was open for business having escaped the worst of the late snowstorm "Stella" which hit NY and Boston badly. Temperatures of -6oC led to threats of black ice on the roads by the media, but our taxiride to DCA was quick and uneventful.
Arriving at DCA I noted the only AA plane in old livery that I've seen on this trip (LAX, PHX, CLT, DCA):
At 5.30am the spacious Admiral's Club in DCA is all but deserted. Fresh fruit, croissants, bagels and hard-boiled eggs were on offer at the food bar, plus a coffee machine that produced an excuse for a caffe latte.
Unfortunately for me, Mrs C snaffled the window seat so I was only able to shoot the next couple of images over her shoulder.
Just after take-off, we climbed past the Pentagon. At the top of the image you can see the three vertical arms of the Air Force Memorial. Off to the right is the edge of the Arlington National Cemetery.
Five seconds later, one can more clearly see the Cemetery completely blanketed with snow.
Just landed at PHX and ensconced in the PHX broom cupboard AC. Temperature on its way to +36oC.
Next stop DFW, then LAX.
Idle Question: all photos uploaded were the same size in pixel dimensions and similar in file size. Why do they display at different sizes?
