The view from my "office"

Welcome to the new QF Dreamliner- please ignore the nice big screen in front of you for the next 4 hours as this flight will not have any entertainment. Please grab a magazine on the way past, but sorry business passengers need to wait until Economy have boarded while catering is loaded so there will be none left for you. NOT HAPPY JAN.

I received my generic computer generated response for my feedback today - I’m more than disappointed in myself for even thinking QF may offer some form of service recovery. When they are bad they are the worst - :(

So, weeks to send you an absolutely generic response. Just so pathetic. Where is Alan Joyce's braggadocio now, I wonder?

Fundamentally I think because the economy of the state is the best its been in many years. Tourism is booming, hotels are being built, roads are being upgraded (slowly!!) etc etc. All the rest follows.
Several years ago there was a bit of an uproar over a study that suggested 50% of tasmanians are functionally illiterate. Not sure if that’s the case now...

Enjoy your view!! How long did it take to manicure your garden?

The study was ridiculously exaggerated but frankly yes, there is/hopefully was an education problem here. Complex reasons of course, but one reason is the decentralisation resulting in poor local school development.

When I moved back here in early 2000sI was shocked that most communities didn't have grades 11 and 12 in their communities. Kids had to go to larger centres (ie board away) to get that education and of course they frequently didn't. Not educated enough, not employed enough, poor health out comes etc etc.

Labour wanted to close schools in smaller towns; economist Saul Eslake supported this. Uproar, and shelved. Libs came in 4 years ago with policy of rolling out grades 11 and 12 to schools and communities that wanted it. Opposed by Labour, because of Education Union.

Has been fantastically popular.

Hopefully with some better education, the society will improve in many ways!

My garden - always had the courtyard, landscaped it 3 years ago. Its lovely. Had 6 neighbourhood friends over for drinks shortly after that shot; we have a lovely community here.

The big boy came out later. On my way to dentist so only got one snap.

A great concert, mix of new and old material, Adam Lambert is a great vocalist and front man.

Guitarist and original member Brian May rigged up a selfie stick and here's a photo of a view of the full-house crowd:

I've posted pic of this office before, but I can't help but take more most times I take this track, 15 mins along cliff top to the beach. I know @JohnM has some PERfect beaches, but this, on my doorstep, I think is pretty fanTAStic ( and often deserted).
