The view from my "office"

East coast Tas, on a perfect spring? I think, day. Schouten Island and Freycinet Peninsula.

On my way to morning tea local history society meeting followed by morning tea! ( We also have expresso coffee and decaf, but some members are used to instant 😱) CWA has nothing on this lot.

A couple from yesterday’s morning walk office.

Two pods and at least one calf spotted.

There’s been a number of trees poisoned in our area over the past few weeks.

One which is home to a family of tawny frogmouths is still untouched and it was nice to see them still in the area on this evening’s walk.

Where I live some residents have poisoned trees so they can selfishly have an ocean view. If only there was a sufficient punishment! But no matter the fine, the trees and the birds have gone.

Silly thing is these tress are about two blocks back from the water in suburbia. Killing them only improves the view from living room A to living room B.

I’m not suggesting the nearby property owners did it. In fact, I’m no detective, but I see no gain for any of the nearby properties.

In our council areas, some people chop or push trees over along a cliff top to improve views over the bay. So there is a suspicious gap in the vegetation. The council fill it with a sign with words to the effect "These trees have been removed without permission blah blah blah." So, if its the landholder immediately behind, they get to see this sign in their view, pointing an unsubtle finger back at them!

Same has happened Perth. And of course a new tree is planted.
