Used to get that all the time in northern Québec, where I lived for a year. You get freezing rain overnight, and the car will be encased in a sheath of ice all over it.


If not that bad, then the locks would be iced in, and you’d get the habit of carrying a little plastic bottle of alcohol to squeeze into it to free up the lock to put a key in it.


Then you had to be careful sitting down because the vinyl on the car is probably frozen rigid and will tear when you sat down.


And then driving, your breath would freeze on the inside of the windscreen. so you’d be scraping off ice on the inside as you drove along.


Ah! Quebec - Je me souviens 😳 Bloody hell I do.


Edit:  Talking -30 to -35 overnight; balmy days of -10 or so; sun if I was lucky, blizzarding if not.
