Having just dropped from P1 to WP. I wanted to see what people's experience are. What were some of your thoughts and feelings? Did you find the higher status worthwhile?

The loss of manual review for CR and consistent Hobart call centre will be missed. F lounge access is retained but no more First/P1 dining area.

If you think that's bad I've just dropped from both VA and QF Gold to two silvers. I've just done my first departure and survived. I checked in about 70 minutes before international departure and by the time I got through security and immigration I only had about 20 minutes reading at the gate.

These days I'm doing less flying so Gold has less value to me. And I'm less value to the airlines. I guess the feeling is mutual.

Interestingly, VA gave me silver with 6 lounge passes, QF 1 pass. So far new bookings are 2 return bookings to VA so far plus $300 saving over QF.

I dropped Hyatt Globalist last year after using the Covid bonuses, and I often spend time thinking about how I can get it back, without spending the cash on Hyatt hotels (which are simply more expensive) - the upgrades and free club access/breakfast + general level of service make me miss it. But eventually my logical side wins out - it doesn't make sense to go for a status which my normal stay patterns dictate I won't utilise. But still, those free suite upgrades...

I will be dropping to QF silver soon and also dropped on VA earlier this year. I have one more international trip to experience a few Oneworld lounges in October, and then the drop comes at end of November. Considering the last time I actually qualified for WP was in 2019, figure I've come off pretty well with all the Covid extensions followed by the soft-landing rules to still have Gold through most of 2024!

I am not sure I will ever experience status again as I changed roles slightly and my industry has largely decided that videoconferencing will take the place of in-person meetings. My last few projects I never went to the site despite being in charge, and they didn't blow up so this will be taken as the way forward.

My QF WP expires on 31st October and head down to SG, don't do the trips I use to which is fair enough. In the meantime, we have a OS holiday planned next month that includes a final lap of a number of domestic and international F lounges and using a few of the perks along the way. The return leg from AKL will see me as SG - hope they have pitty on me and let me into the cupboard for one last time! Still not too bad I say, I'm good with that. Put it this way, I was in the top 1% of QFF which is still pretty cool.

That's one level decriment with minor changes.

I was top tier with Ansett. Upgrade on almost every flight. Greeted by name at lounges at any time of day or night without showing boarding passes, invited to sit in the jump seat for landings, free cases of wine, embossed leather diaries, free tickets to events, 1m+.points then...... ZERO in one day.
