Just hired a car from Thrifty in Auckland on Khyber Pass Road - hopelessly disorganised, car wasn't cleaned properly and just driving off and realised it was less than half a tank of petrol.
Went back inside and he said oh just tell them it was half full and I said no you write it on the rental document. I reckon it was about 3/8 and he realised I wasn't happy so he said how about 1/8 and that's how they got it back
Mind you it was substantially cheaper than Avis or Hertz and I used the AA discount
