Newbie GOLD QFF so please go easy guys......;)

Today I looked at my QFF Activity Statement and have been gifted? a "Tier Retain Bonus Status Credits" of SC50.:confused::confused::confused::confused:

This means I am still SC120 off retaining Gold and my expiry is Oct 31 2010.

I only have a SYD - BNE RTN flight booked for Sept so if QF were going to comp me wouldn't they give me enough to reach SC600 ie SC100?

Any help on this subject greatly appreciated.

aghott,

Welcome to AFF.

A few people have had this as an incentive 'help' toward retaining their status. ie Qantas will help you but not just give it to you.

I suspect the management at Qantas want to encourage you to spend more, than you perhaps might have done, in order to retain your status.

I guess you are right although I was under the impression that Qantas offered things like double SCs on your next flight, or bonus SCs for next flight or double SCs for a certain period not these type of incentives.

Just an update re tier Retain.

Since my gift of 50 SC I have been sent the email asking me to outline my travel plans for the next 12 months in the hope that my Gold Status will be retained.

I have already planned my calendar for 2011 and as such been able to outline the exact destinations and the number of segments per destination.

Please Note: I did not over inflate my "estimate" as it was an actual ie 28 domestic segments and 6 int segments. Totalling about 500 SC.
It seems that by being truthful and not lying about my plans has brought me unstuck. I have been denied the privilege of retaining Gold.

I have voiced my disappointment with QFF via email and am awaiting a response.

Perhaps DJ will value my loyalty more in 2011.

So because you're not getting something for free and not really entitled to, you are complining to QF and moving your business to DJ?? Or am i missing something?

I know of many people who intentionally lie on their future travel plans document and have retained their status.

I just thought I would make the point that QF needs to check actuals v's planned for the majority of their customers who retain their status this way.

Yeah and I will vote with my $ and Fly with any company who goes above and beyond my expectations as a customer.

You have 3 weeks to earn 120SC's - next year the same point level at the same time would require 220 SC's.

Assuming SYD, those SC's can be earned for 85K QFF points on JASA's to AKL or there are many other ways inclusing D class trips to CBR.

People may 'lie' as you state, but QF only offer 1 year gratis. After that, if you don't re-qualify, you drop back a tier.

If the person hasn't done the required flights to get the SC's to re-qualify, they're not getting a second free year so QF should have no need to 'verify' the letter stating future travel plans, when they met the program requirements anyway.

QF most likely take a lot of other things into account. I've been granted PS one year gratis as I fell 90SC's short, but for 4 years before and ever since, i've been well over and almost made SG for 4 years.

I'm sure another airline will welcome you, and you'll have to start from scratch and have no benefits for a chunk of flights. End of the day, you are unfortunately still a number unless you're flying an obscene amount.

Around $370 dollars, an early mark on Friday, a room for the night in HBA and 16000 points will achieve your goal of 120SC's (you will also earn 4500 SCs so it will really cost 11500 points.

How many people do you think would be able to accurately state their travel for the next year? I can do it to a level, I know some of my plans for the next twelve months, but I will likely have some differences to anything I say.

Here's something. I just got the 'please explain' email for next years travel plans, so I started to fill in the form with what I am fairlly certain will happen. They need more lines on the form!

I'm gonna end my year somewhere in the high 500's on the SC count, so if they say no, I'll have to pull the joker and do a status run

Is nice to see someone with morals eg. not making up things just to get the comp'd requal!

Looks like they have extended me for a year.

I do have to thank Jetstar for introducing *class on Melbourne->Singapore though. Not that I ever expected to thank Jetstar for anything!
