First post here, so hello to all.

I'm QF FF Bronze and a member of QF Club. For various reasons I've not flown for a while so currently have zero tier credits. My understanding is that to achieve Silver you need 350 or 360 TC in your applicable period, then 300 TC per year to maintain that status.

My QF profile shows that I need 300 TC to reach Silver (before 31st August, so do-able) but, as I said above, I have zero TC at the moment and assumed I needed 350(?). I'm happy to reach Silver on just 300 but is this correct? Does my membership of QF Club have anything to do with it, or perhaps the fact that I've been Silver in the past - although not for 3 years?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Many thanks for that very quick response, serfty, and thanks for your welcome. I wasn't aware of the change but it's really good news as it will make retaining status much easier for me. :)

Hang around here and you won't be silver for long ;)

Tier Credits can't be earnt on QANTAS anymore. The term you're after is Status Credits.

I was thinking that - if you're calling them TC's then you definitely haven't flown for a long time! ;)

I'm in the same boat. Haven't flown much for the past few years but now back into weekly travel.
As I'll be doing so much travel I bought myself QC a few weeks back but have realised that come September I'll be half way between PS and SG when my credits go back to zero. Thinking it over I decided I'd have been better off if instead I'd cancelled my FF membership, then re-joined QC and obtained a new FF starting at zero points, that way come September my points wouldn't go back to zero. Admittedly I'd have lost my 3,000 lifetime credits if I'd done this.
I phoned Qantas to see if there was anything they could do retrospectively but no luck. They even said if I had done this and cancelled my FF and re-joined I would have been given the same annual expiry date - don't know if this is true or if I was being fed a line.

The only way they could conceivably do that would be if they were 100% sure you were the same person - based on some sort of matching criteria (eg full name, dob and address) - you could trick the system by excluding your middle name or using a different address on the new membership, then change it once the membership has been opened.
