time to check in for domestic aa flt.

I'll be arriving in dfw, already booked. Usually I stay over wherever I land for a night or two to help with jetlag. The next trip I will be flying from dfw-ord and stayover there. This trip not yet booked direct with aa.

My question is, how soon can I check in with aa for ord flt. I'm allowing myself a bit of time upon dfw arrival, looking at either 18:00 or 19:00 departure. Arrival in DFW should be 14:00. I have found getting through customs, etc. doesn't take too long as I use my US p/port. TIA

You can check in online 24 hours before the ORD flight's scheduled departure, so if on QF7 you can do this from Oz.

If you have luggage to check, bring a printout of your AA e-ticket with you and QF can check it all the way to ORD. You would still need to pick it up at DFW after immigration, take it through customs, but then you can just redeposit right after customs before heading back airside.
