Timing of new status card distribution

When does QF send out a new card after you retain status?

If I retain it within the first month of a membership year do they send it then, or wait till the end of the year? I guess what I'm getting at is receiving the new one prior to the old one expiring so it is a seamless transition. Obviously if I did not requalify till the last day of my membership year then this could not happen, but I would have thought it would make sense, where the conditions have been met in adequate time, to ensure the new one is received prior to the existing one expiring.

PS. Question is prompted by my retention of WP a couple of days ago, and the SO's retention of SG, which will occur when bonus SCs from the same flight are posted (she already has the bonus SCs from the outbound). Our year end is the end of this month. Timing is no big deal for me (in this instance), but the SO is off OS for a while on 1 June, so having the new card would be useful.

I requalified WP within six months of my membership year starting but I did not get the new WP card until a month or two before my old card was due to expire. Seems that QF seems to hold off on sending new packs.

I qualed gold while OS in mid jan. by the time I was home in mid feb, my new gold pack was waiting for me. However as I had previously only requaled as bronze, all I can say is no clue

I have found that the card arrives 4-6 weeks before the end of the status period so seamless. I guess the reason is if you qualify as SG in six months you might then qualify as WP in the second six months so why send out a pack until they are sure what status you will be by the end of the year.

No new WP card here, status renewal end May, status re-equalled early March.
The online status reset until May 2014 happened on 1st May.

For me, it seems to be around the 3-4 weeks after the new status is reached, and they have to send it out to SIN.

For requalification, I've never experienced one, since I've reached a higher level every year since I joined the QP. Talk about addiction...

Hmmm ... maybe something has changed ... in the past if you had re-qualified a status level the new card would be sent out 6-8 weeks before the end of one's "year".

I re-qualified WP last month and based on past experience was anticipating receiving a new card by mid-September in time for my end October expiry.

This has been my experience also.

Status year starts 1 May.
Requalified August last year.
New card arrived mid April

Princess Fiona, 2014 is a little more generous than my online renewal (May 2013)?
