it was between HA and JQ in Y from BNE? Both have direct flights fortunately :)

Thanks!

Thanks mate. Never flown ha before. Just wondering if it's safe etc .... Maybe i am being overly concerned

If price is not a factor, then HA easily due to superior levels of service. But I have no concerns about the safety records of either airline.

Thanks guys. Ha it is then :) .... but boy it is going to be a long 9.5 hrs !!!

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

Thanks guys. Ha it is then :) .... but boy it is going to be a long 9.5 hrs !!!

the only thing I just noticed... as a qantas platinum don't you get lounge access with JQ?

Can I ask why you'd be concerned about safety on HA? While removed... Hawaii is still part of the United States. Can't say I'd think twice about stepping on a U.S. airliner

Done both but never in Y, Best IMO is HA and don't worry about safety, no real problems with either.

What about a couple of cheap flights to SYD and then over to HNL on QF. At least you would have lounge access both ways

I have flown both in Y in recent years but not on JQ's Dreamliner - my pick would be HA - 2 free checked bags & included meals + for additional $ can select front row Y (more legroom than some J seats IMO). HA dep/arr times line up better with Hawaii check in and no early morning check out.

JQ allows QF lounge access in you have QF status.

If its economy class - as far as comfort goes:

Least Worst: HA A330 Y class (2-4-2) with 31-32" pitch and 18" width
Less Better: JQ A330 Y class (2-4-2) with 31" pitch and 17.5" width
Worst: JQ B787 Y class (3-3-3) with 30" pitch and 17" width

Don't forget once you add all the bundles and baggage and extra food and other fees sometimes JQ fares can be similar or even more than HA fares - so really depends on the price difference and how much you value space/comfort on board.
