I'm booked to fly CNS-HND-CNS in October/November and have received advice that the time of the HND-CNS flight has been changed.

The first flight is scheduled to arrive at HND at 20:00 and was originally scheduled to depart HND for CNS at 21:05. It is now scheduled to depart at 21:55. Perhaps the original turn around time was a bit ambitious.

I was booked in business class and seats had been selected. VA has now unselected the seats and has removed the ability to re select seats online and requires a phone call. Screenshot 2023-06-10 at 6.32.05 pm.png

Probably more to do with slot allocations at Haneda.

VA , Bne>Hnd , is as cheap as chips compared to the Usurious Roo.
The flights, however are very messy compared to the Roo who fly direct 3 days.
In the end we managed some direct Roo roosts at a reasonable rate via a third party supplier ( cruise line)

Make sure you put in a claim if they put in flexY/discY and you had paid cash, ie, you had a rev fare.
It would be a totally dishonest thing, if you find you are relegated to Y for what ever reason, and you had paid top $ for the J seats.
Whether it be that J had been oversold, or they had to reduce J availability.
Few days ago, the ADL - DPS flight had to turn back, and some pax were put onto the next flight, and some got a refund.
If that were to happen on the CNS - HND sector, your return would have to wait till the next day.

VH-VBZ (one of the only two 737-700s able to operate CNS-HND nonstop) has just left AUH and is ferrying back to Australia. Presumably it was there for maintenance?

Y class to HHD will see the next stage of retail with introduction of hot meals available for purchase. Protein/veg.

Hot meals in Y for purchase will be rolled out to DPS from mid July with other ISH routes to follow after.

Water bottles will be seat loaded on all ISH flights.

Y - Relax kit with neck pillow, blanket and other items available for purchase.

All ISH J class will have pillows, blankets amenity kits going forward.

Good to see VA finally introducing prepaid hot meals in (ISH) Y in line with their LCC and Value Orientated Hybrid competitors.

VA's direct value Hybrid competitor Batik Air Group recently introduced blankets/pillows in recliner J class on their DPS redeyes. Something VA should look at having for BoB in Y.

Are Domestic flights for crew familiarisation planned or just directly onto the HND route it goes?
Per media reports they'll briefly be on Domestic rotations for familiarisation before going onto HND a month after delivery. Some of the crew on here may able to confirm or deny those reports.

Must be so much cheaper to have to source, select, process payment, load and heat individual meals rather than just charge $2 extra per ticket and provide the meal for free :)

No awards for offering pillows and blankets in business class. They should be standard.

Hot Meals pre paid coming to Domestic Y medium haul?
Not that I can find/know of. Likely will remain in line with JQ.

VA 1.0 did try on the PER runs in Y and it didn't end well for them. Their other medium haul domestic routes was basically 2 snack pieces and a drink (rather than the 1 bite size snack on the shorter routes).

I really wish some outlet at the airport, do made to order food to eat on the flight. Put it in a bag pickup when airside.
It would be better than any airline food made in any production kitchen.

Even the Book to Cook SQ stuff for R/F/J was inauthentic to say the least.

The thing is if you're charging $15 for a meal that might cost $2 to procure, it's probably worth it. If you can charge $2 extra per ticket, you will, with our without the meal.

I guess my post above wasn't clear that they're reintroducing pillows and blankets on SHI J for day and night flights and that a RELAX KIT will be available for purchase in Y?

People want cheaper fares and add ons according to their budget. There's Qantas and other full service airlines if people want to spend an additional $2.
