You are going to love this one. Earlier this year I tried to cancel my Qantas American Express Premium Card but the nice people at Amex call centre insisted I keep the card fee free for another year.

Shortly after that renewal I received 2 x QC passes, which I have since used.

Just recently I purchased some QF flights using the card in order to earn the bonus points for QF purchases.

2 more passes have arrived 'after the first annual spend'.

Nice glitch which will allow me to enjoy the QP hospitality to/fr the tennis in January. I fly infrequently but in this case I thought it was such nice timing to have an unexpected win.

Wonder if anyone else has had this experience with these complimentary cards being issued too frequently.

Opposite actually.

I've had the card (fee-free every year) for the last 4 years, and have only once received the passes. If I wasn't Platinum I'd probably press it further (I usually call up once but then can't be bothered any more), as I don't really need them. When I do receive them, I give them away anyway.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Lucky you. Whilst I had the card I only received the number of passes I was entitled to and they only arrived after a purchase with Qantas.

I have had my Amex card for about 3 years now and every year I get two more QP passes and then when I use the card again in that new year I then get another two QP passes sent out.

I just give them away to friends flying.

Nice luck getting extra Qantas Club complimentary invitations. I seem to get 2 Qantas Club complimentary invitations on my first Qantas spend after the anniversary.

By the way the annual fee of $195 is due next week and I have made it very clear to Amex that I will not be paying the annual fee. I have been told to call back once the annual fee has been charged to the card.

JohnK, based on my experiences with Amex I strongly suggest you get that in writing from them, even if by fax!

Totally understand.

The fee is due Jan 14th and I will be calling on Monday Jan 11th to cancel card. I will cancel card if the fee is not waived.

P.S I have managed to do quite well as this is one of the credit cards I have managed to pay off the outstanding balance....
