Here is my conundrum:

I have earned just over 2000 SC's 5 months into my year. I have already gifted platinum to my wife (a good move ;)).

Lot's of travel for the foreseeable future. Am wondering if I continue with DJ or go and flirt with QF. I didn't get the targeted double SC offer from QF (more fool them I guess would have possibly an easier decision).

I do mostly East coast ex-Perth flying.

Opinions?

Do you have another family member "living with you" that you can pool your points and status to?

If you can put up with being treated Silver on QF for a short time, go for Gold/Platinum on QF too. It gives you the flexibility to choose which airline you want to fly and know that you'll get looked after well on either. (I did, though the nature of my travel dictates I have to use both anyway). What's that saying about eggs and baskets?

I would have thought that a discreet phone call and some evidence of the huge pile of SC's gained with more travel to come would get you comp status with QF. I'd try to speak with someone senior at QFF and see whether they want your business.

If not, there are still a number of other OW carriers who would probably like to be credited with your flying miles, AA and CX come to mind, if QF don't want your business directly, you could possibly try calling another OW carrier to see what they think .. you'd still be flying QF metal of course, but possibly with OWE or even OWS and would credit all your flying to another OW carrier

Sounds like quite the First world problem! Let us know what you decide. I like the 'discreet' phone call option. Give us faith that there is still room for negotiaton out there.

Hmmm - maybe I'll try the discreet phone call tomorrow. Worth a try I guess. I agree with eggs in 1 basket concept....

I do however rather enjoy the A330 J service though..... the lamb chops the other night were wonderful.

Stay & hit 2400SC. Then call VA & ask what can be done for people like yourself with 3xWP in the bank. Politely, mention that you are aware that the competition are offering additional benefits for their super elite and you're interested in what can be offered!

You could also drop in the conversation that you've read somewhere that VA are thinking about creating a Chairman's Lounge equivalent......stay, go hard & see what you get.

You mention you've gotten your wife to Plat. Is that for the first time? If so, I'd then requalify her for Plat so she'll retain it for next year.

I think that's a conundrum we would all like to have. Beats being wondering whether you going to scrape in requalifying.

I would have offered to move in too but looks like you already have another boarder first in line.

I'm about to hit 2000 myself. Good effort buddy! I'm likely to hit 2500+ once the double SC promo is over :)

LOL - got it wrong. I actually have 3,000 SC's. I was looking in the wrong place - have earned 2400 over my initial 800 to get to plat.

Will earn 400 SC's next week. Will make a few calls today.
