I see the 50 points offer is available with Topguest and the new NT Doubletrees.

Is this a new concept for the Hilton group and can you do this with Hilton as well?

It's been availabe for Doubletree checkins for some time. And yes they have to be Doubletree branded.

When Holiday Inn was part of the 50 points arrangement I used to be able to check-in to the Cairns Holiday Inn on foursquare from my kitchen. I was 1.1k away. It was part of my morning ritual - juice, coffee, cereal, check-in. Alas, that is now gone. I'm not so confident that trying to check-in at the Darwin DT from my Cairns kitchen will work as well.
