Hi guys - looking for your advice pls.

Next trip will involve transatlantic MIami or Atlanta to Heathrow. Options are BA or AA, all in J.

Questions:
1. Which is better in J? AA or BA.
2. If BA, have option of 744 or 777. which is better?
3. Will one airline get more status credits than the other?

Thanks.

BA J is narrow ying/yang flat level bed.

AA is wider flat but sloped bed.

If booked on an AA flight you may be able to upgrad to first class with AAdvantage miles or a SWU/eVIP.

I didn't mind BA J transatlantic. Haven't tried the AA product though.

The last time I flew AA J (2008) the allowance was one bottle of water before sleeping but mine fell under the seat - asked FA for another after we both couldn't locate it - reply - only - allowed one bottle during flight - not a good response for some one tired and dehydrated.

Slanting bed not as comfy as flat on BA (not transatlantic but LHR CAI LHR SIN) service more friendly (again 2008). If you choose BA window last row rear facing you are not distubing anyone getting in and out and very private once the centre privacy blind is up - but if your a bigger person or claustrophobic isle might be better

The forward/backward seat IMO is a good style of seating for couples and travelling companions you don't have to keep turning your head to look at them in conversation and at meal time.

Would always choose BA unless I had miles to upgrade to F on AA. T5 lounge is nicer than T3. I don't like sloping beds unless daytime flight and no sleep at all planned.

I have found the crew on AA transatlantic to be their younger crew and generally pretty good. You might also get the captain who signals departure with the. Train whistle...

Only problem if you do this on the lower deck of 747 or on 777 is that the Y bassinets are located just on the other side of the bulkhead and if there are a couple of crybaby's on the flight this can be an issue...

I would take 747 Upperdeck seat 62A or K.

Boris check out my blog on this site... I did both last month. 4 long haul business class flights on 4 different carriers... my thoughts... - Blogs - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community

I'd go BA, 747, upper deck and try for seats 62A/K or 64A
