Has anyone previously done the tight 1h10m transfer between 3K536 HKT-SIN and QF52 SIN-BNE?

Ms Chooms and I are booked on the QF codeshare for the 3K flight (QF4249) and will be doI ng the transfer.

Given we are booked under the QF flight number, we get luggage transfer so that is no worry (hopefully), but I'm worried that there is a chance of being late into SIN and missing the QF52 back to BNE.

Qantas actually booked this flight (I did it over the phone and you can do it online) so I assume the time between flights meets QF's minimum transfer time.

My question is, given the combo of airlines (particularly 3K's involvement) is there a risk of us not being moved to another flight or put up for the night in SIN (as QF have done for me before when a delay meant missing a connection from a LHR-SIN to a SIN-PER flight) should the 3K flight be delayed?

I'm hoping the QF flight numbers will help us here...

Any advice appreciated!

I think 3K and QF use the same terminal, but even if they don't it is easy to transfer between them with the airside train.

Even with 30 mins connection it would be tight but do-able.

If your flights are on the one PNR, then QF will reschedule you if you don't make the flight.

Ah good point... Yes they are booked on same PNR. Also, same terminal (T1).

A few years ago 3K in BKK actually asked if I was connecting flights in SIN. As I was ticketed on QF to PER they happily through checked my bag.

I would be surprised if 3K would not through check... Ask if needed.

Happy wandering

Fred

Nailed it!

I recently did 3K to QF ex PNH. 3K wouldn't check bag through, but I was off the aircraft, got the bag, checked in and in the lounge in just over 30mins. Singapore is an efficient airport!

I did a 3K to QF transfer at SIN in 2014, and it was no drama (but the connection time was much longer than 30 minutes). Given that the 3K flight is a QF codeshare, make sure at check-in you are give both boarding passes and that your bags are checked through to the QF flight.

Just did a 40 min EK to EK transit 2 days ago, you should not have any troubles. Enjoy the QF SIN lounge, I'm sure Michelle and team will treat you very well! :D

Yep. Looking forward to the QF SIN lounge. We have 2hr wait on the way over so intending to make good use of it then. I think transit time may be too short on the way back...

Delayed inbound would be the only reason to miss a connection that long. SIN can do crazy tight connections.

Sorry about the reference to 30 minutes. The OP has 1hr10, and I was using 30mins as a bit of an extreme.

Were you not aware that you could go to transfer counter with your baggage tags from previous flight and check-in for next flight? Luggage is manually transferred to onward flight. I do this quite regularly in SIN and HKG.

3K and QF both said this wasnt possible.

Don't listen to either.

I have witnessed it happen in SIN from QF to 3K and the other way.

FWIW I've just been given the same advice that ftm received.

Later this week I'm arriving QF81 and connecting 3K513 ... 2.25hr transit, different PNR. Wanted to try "straight to gate" however, since I'm in an exit row apparently you can't OLCI. Unbelievably, the only seats available are all exit rows (might be a glitch with the bundle). The agent double checked with a supervisor and advised that I would need to go outside and checkin at the counters.

I'll report back on the following...

1) will other seats become available when attempting to OLCI therefore, allowing me to go "straight to gate"?
2) will a nice person provide me with a BP at a transfer counter?
3) will they forced me thru I&C, perform a "U" turn and head back in?
4) time it takes to get a BP from either one of the above sources, enter the QP and starting drinking?
5) will I miss the connection?

Hopefully '2)' will apply allowing you to keep your exit row.

Found this on the Changi website Transit Information - Changi Airport

Appears to be no issues getting a BP at the transit counter ... do you think they make a distinction between a connection sharing the same PNR as oppose to a separate booking?

Would that make a differance?

Scratch #1 from list. OLCI has failed.

As posted in the other thread unless things have changed drastically then you will be able to get boarding pass and transfer your luggage at transfer desk.

Do not listen to what customer service tell you. They wouldn't have clue as they are reading from script.

Walked off QF81 at 17:15, transfer counter closed, enquired with staff servicing other airlines when they open ... short answer maybe 30mins as they are on their break.

So down the escalator, thru I&C and joined the queue for regular checkin.

All up it took 30mins after leaving QF81, enter the lounge and start enjoying this.

Exit row secured.
