Hey guys

Very new to this frequent flyer and points thing, but I have amassed some points over the years.

I am thinking of converting my velocity points to krisflyer points and wanted to know if anyone had done it? How long does the transfer take?

The reason I am wanting to transfer, even though the rate will see me lose some velocity points is that I think Krisflyer offers more options to redeem international flights.

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks

I've just transferred some velocity points to kris flyer via velocity website on the left hand side. Something like transfer points to partner airline.
The transfer was instant. Ie I logged into kris flyer 2 min after the transfer and the points were there. I also booked the required SQ flight straight away.

That is really good. I like the idea of instant transfer will be well received by many.

I made a transfer recently and the transfer was instant. In fact I did it while I was on the phone to KF booking an SQ redemption.

Wow very impressive. If only the banks would be so efficient transferring to airlines

This is the reason I warehouse points in Amex and don't transfer to programs, including VA, unless I have an up and coming need. Amex transfers to SQ at 1:1, VA transfers to SQ at 1.35:1. Thank goodness one can transfer though, if really required, because the lack of a proper alliance really otherwise limits the international use of VA points.

Thanks guys. This was excellent info.

The other reason I am transferring to Kris is that I did a search for redemption on Virgin for an intended trip to Hong Kong next year, and they had apparently exhausted all reward seats for that period whereas Singapore had some still available. It's a pain to have to stop over in Singapore but free is free!
