I am arriving at LAX (Term4 - QF) at 9.15am and picking up a flight to LHR at 3pm (TBIT - BA). Will I be able to get out of the airport for some shopping between flights? Will the immigration have a problem with no "place of abode" on my entry card. Firts post Ive left so thanks for any help in advance.

Hi dogdoctor, welcome to AFF. :D

Firstly, you simply need to put in "In Transit" or similar on your I-94w documentation. There should be a video late on the QF flight explaining this.

You will clear customs/immigration at LAX T4 - it's a short walk to TBIT.

As for time to shop etc, I'll leave it to others, other than to express my opinion that you should be checking in / clearing security for your BA flight no later than 1pm. The 3pm flight should commence boarding around 2:30pm.

There is no option to remain "in transit" for such circumstances. You must arrive via USA Immigration and Customs and then go back out through security to the departures area. so they will certainly not have any issues with you doing that, but may want to see your onward ticket or e-ticket receipt to verify.

You must either qualify for the I94W Visa Waiver program or have a valid Visa to transit in the USA in this manner.

On the I94W form, just put the flight details as the address, such as "In Transit to BA1234 departing at 3pm"
