Travel credit for Jakarta

I have some travel credit that's about to expire and wanted to look into flights to Jakarta. The Amex travel centre website is not giving me any resilts for Jakarta though with Melbourne as the point of departure.

Anyone else having this issue?

not a lot of options for Jakarta ex Melbourne because AMEX doesnt sell tickets on any LCC;s
Check a range of dates, because Garuda doesnt depart daily from Melbourne (i think)

I don't think that is the issue though. Even when I search Jakarta for hotels with no dates selected, the search field does not yield any results. It is like the city does not exist or Amex does not let you book anything there.

I get the same, yet Bandung and Surabaya (and some other obscure cities) do come up in the search field.
So its not just you.

Ok so I called them and they gave me some interesting information. Apparently the reason Jakarta does not appear as a bookable option on the website is due to a large amount of fraudulent activity. I wonder if there are other destinations like this. I hear Lagos and Mogadishu are nice this time of year.
Anyway, she informed that flights and hotels to/in Jakarta can be booked over the phone. In the case of hotels she said to research a few options and then they will check with their providers to see if those options are available.

I also gave her feedback saying that it would be nice to have an indication to call to book Jakarta rather than the current setup which just makes it look like the website is broken or that Jakarta does not exist. She said she'll pass it on but "they do not get many requests to book Jakarta".

Did you notice the contradiction here?

I will bet money that the CSR didnt actually know and repeated something she thinks she heard.

Totally agree. It was a bit of a cop out and I felt like saying, well of course you don't get many Jakarta bookings.

Can confirm that you need to call them to book your flights to Jakarta with your credit.

Have done it multiple times now.
