Travel on Oneworld Alliance Airlines

I have 2 general query that will hopefully benefit more than just me!!

Query 1
As I always fly Qantas where possible, I was just wondering the correct process for ensuring the crediting of QFF points when travelling on a oneworld airline with that airlines flight no. on the ticket.
I intend to purchase such tickets on the particular oneworld airlines website, and as such, they have no scope to provide a QFF no, rather just their applicable loyalty program no.
Is it a case of holding on to the Boarding passes and faxing them through to the QFF Customer Centre? Also, is there a benefit in showing a QFF card at check in if a Silver member with no lounge access to oneworld lounges?

Query 2
When travelling on a oneworld airline (non QF, but oneworld flight no.), are the status credits earned exactly the same as if having flown Qantas.
eg would flying Zone 2, Business Class on AA be the same as flying Zone 2, Business Class on QF?

Your should ring up the airline that you are travelling with and advise the CS Reservation staff your QF FF number. That way, you're more likely to get your entitlements to the oneworld benefits (check-in, seating preference, priority tags etc).

Only if the flights don't post to your account would you then need to fax copies of the BP's to QFF.

Showing your QFF card at check-in should ensure that your QF FF number is in the booking details.

Query 2

You need to check out the Oneworld Airlines SC's and Points Chart. This was easily found in the Qantas ULTIMATE thread.

With regards to query 2, I did look up the earning table and noticed that oneworld airlines did give status credits. Just wasn't sure if the number of status credits differed from Qantas (like the rewards points needed for a reward flight with oneworld is more than QF, for eg), but I guess giving more thought on my part, your thread does suggest that the status credits earned on oneworld is the same as QF.

Second the suggestion to ring - if you have status this will be of more benefit than just showing card at check-in. Incidentally which OW airline wouldnt allow QF number to be recorded when purchasing on their website?

Actually most *A FFPs do this - different status earning depending on carrier, but same award cost regardless of *A carrier. The opposite to QF!

On a recent RTW trip booked through a travel agent, who used my QF number when processing the booking, I found that points did not get logged automatically for my CX and BA flights, but they did get logged for my AA flight. On check-in for the BA flights they swiped my FF card in their computer but it didn't help!

I kept the boarding passes and sent copies to Qantas so that they could credit the points. The BA points appeared after a week, but the CX points took 6 weeks to appear and ended up going on to my account after my annual rollover even though the flights were in the prior ff year.

You have to keep an eye on this because it does not always work smoothly.

Which further goes to prove that ringing QF Res to ensure your correct FF details are in there before you start flying, is important. They know more about the FF program than TA's do...
