But my iphone is locked into Optus network and I dont want to buy a phone to get another sim card.
Pushka talk to Optus - locked aint like locked used to be - provided you have established any sort of plan payment credibility / reliability then most carriers will unlock your phone for you as soon as you request it.

Re: Travel sim.. tru is true

Had great success with tru on a recent 5 week multi country euro jaunt.
Always worked , logged in to a new country quickly and gave you a message with the rates.
Direct dialling.. none of this call back roulette.
Was so useful we haven't even bothered to analyse how much we spent.. but I'm quite sure it was peanuts compared to an 'Oz carrier on roaming.

We also used Tru in May/June in Europe. We purchased it duty free on QF & it suited our needs for that trip-voice only for very occasional calls to confirm rooms etc & it was excellent for that. We had a basic unlocked phone we took with us. We are maintaining the number by using the sim for a text every 3 months.
