Just thought I would share an interesting data point. QF staff member tried to deny access and direct me to the QP this morning as a Gold flying in J. She had already seen my boarding pass and scanned it to come back green on the scanners. Not sure if this is something QF are pushing or the staff member thinking its suppose to be Plat only

Flew J from BNE earlier this month. No issues/questions getting in via the Premium Entry and subsequently at the J Lounge.

Don’t think there was anything intentional here.
Most likely they just saw the Gold bit.

It’s a moot point in BNE anyway as once you head off towards the J lounge doors nobody is checking anything.

I find this really odd, they only check eligibility to enter the precinct with the scanners, I've never had a comment regarding which lounge to use (in BNE it's really a lounge within a lounge rather than two lounges). The J lounge is out of sight from both of the entries.

And yes, to get into the J lounge once inside, nothing is scanned. I usually just hold up my WP card and I think they struggle to feign interest in it.

Are you sure you didn't mishear her?

J entry point used to be policed but recently seems to be fairly open slather. There’s also times where QP seems less busy than J lounge - there seems marginal difference between the two these days.

The entrance was definitely policed today. There was a line going out the door with examination of BP and scanning it. The agent even asked the WP in front of me to produce his membership card

The entrance to the business lounge or the lounge precinct?

I've certainly seen the J lounge entry staffed, but never had to scan a boarding pass - just present my WP card (which was never scanned). Are you saying you have to scan your boarding pass twice?

COuld be done electronially (shoudl be on the boarding pass anyway) but many wouldnt have a physical card that is current as cards seem to have been a covid casualty.

I came thru the bne J lounge last Sunday, up from the premium entry, and like on previous occasions this year, had my QR WP (apple wallet) checked over.

I've always been asked to show either boarding pass or membership card going into J at Brisbane.

I went through BNE twice in Jan and both times was asked to produce boarding pass to enter J lounge - as a gold flying J. I don't believe it was scanned, just looked at.

Occasionally on entering J in Brisbane, the front counter has been unattended whereupon we just stroll through. Sometimes there is staff chatting at the RH counter who have appeared disinterested and again we've strolled through.
Recently, as I'm only SG, I had a staff member double-check my J seat number on lounge entry, as the number appears so small on the wallet.

Might have been flying JQ as their BPs don't show status. I had this happen recently, was asked for my card, then told it wasn't good enough because it's expired and Qantas hasn't sent me a new one for 3 years 😂 Needed to show the Qantas app on my phone to get in..

Had to scan at the bottom before security and again to enter the J Lounge
