Does anyone have any experience travelling between SIN and SGN and SGN and HKG?

I'm after thought about airlines both from a cabin perspective and from an overall safety perspective.

i.e. thoughts on Vietnam Airlines etc.

I found Vietnam Airlines quite good. Staff were friendly (although some of their English wasn't fantastic), the planes were new and services were reliable and on-time. I had no concerns with their safety either, and would happily fly them again.

I can't comment on other airlines on these routes though.

Have done HKG-SGN-HKG with CX.......bloody expensive however, I have a soft spot for CX. The flight had F,J & Y.

Have travelled quite a bit with VN and found them to be good. I have no hesitation getting back on VN!

Their J hard product was similar to QF Dom.

I've flown VN approx 15 times both Y and J and have no problem with them. They are normally lightly loaded on domestic sectors.

Some may be freaked out by what they see though. I've faced FA's in exit jumpseats that have a quick nap on short final and subsequent taxi after being woken up by the landing so they must work them hard. I've also seen a novel approach to maintenance where an AME brought on board a duffel bag of tools and proceeded to tend to issues in the cabin e.g. seats and meal trays when we hit cruise. Great marketing.

I would fly them again though.

Flew with them a few times early this year including a Singapore-Hanoi flight. Safety - everything seemed fine - the only issue I saw was around passengers wanted to get up/move around cabin/open lockers when the should be seated. The cabin was nice enough, fairly standard I suppose. A broken IFE on one flight but everything was in Vietnamese so it didn't matter to me. Crew were nice and food okay too. For short haul intra Asia, would happily fly with them again.
