Hi All,

I'm travelling with my family to HKT in May:

ADL-SIN QF
SIN-HKT 3K
HKT-SIN 3K
SIN-ADL QF

we have an overnight transit in Singapore and I was thinking about using the transit hotel there.

My question is wanting to know if I can use the transit hotel in this situation.

Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone has any real world experience knowing if I will be issued boarding passes the whole way to HKT and thus my bags being checked all the way through. From what I understand, if I need to collect my bags, I will need to leave the transit lounge and then go through immigration which sort or rules out the transit hotel as it is entered air side... I'm thinking that an arrival at 2120 with a departure about 0920 +1 would probably rule out me being able to check bags in again that night and get a boarding pass for what will be the next day if I had to do that.

The logical thing was to ring QF which I did, the person there said I wouldn't get a boarding pass all the way through and I'd need to get my bags in SIN. I then rang JQ who advised I would get a boarding pass the whole way and bags would be checked through...

I've read that the transit hotel should be booked weeks in advance and I'd hate to pay out the dollars for a stay only to find that I can't get a way into the place.

Any help appreciated.

I did a similar thing last year. On arrival in SIN, I collected bags, re-checked in then proceed to the Transit hotel which is located in the departure area. I could have avoided collecting bags apparently, see the thread below.

Hi Ashleyn,

Thanks for that. When you did it, were you overnight transiting as well? That's where I'm wanting to be specific. I'll be arriving at 2120 and not departing until the next morning. I've read that while you can print a boarding pass up to 48 hours prior to departure with Jetstar, the check-in counter doesn't open until 2 hours prior to departure. That would mean that I could get out with the bags, have a boarding pass but have nowhere to put my bags if I can't check in until morning... Does that make sense - I tend to complicatge things :)

If my bags are checked through and I have boarding passes for both flights, the above issues go away...

Cheers.

Surely you can get your bags checked through and just pick up a boarding pass from the transit desk, pretty sure I have read this is what others have done.

i did this last year on SYD-SIN QF and SIN-HKG 3K which was the next morning.

i arrived and went to transfer lounge C, gave them my bag tags and they rerouted my bags and provided boarding passes. i did not need to clear immigration and i went straight to the transit hotel.

Yep, well that's what I'm hoping will be the case...

Thanks yohy, that sounds like a plan if things aren't checked all the way from ADL :)

What i did a couple of times on my recent trip to the US and Europe was when i arrived in an airport and was leaving within 24 hours i just let my bags go to the carousel and then get taken off after 30 minutes-an hour or so and they went to the airlines luggage office... I just rocked up to the office a few hours before the flight, showed my tags and collected them... Much easier than lugging your bags out of the airport for an overnighter or finding paid storage at the airport...

You would probably need to know what time the luggage office opens and shuts though... :)

Also have a look at the crowne plaza at the airport. You can use the airport skytrains to get to T3 to the hotel. Really quiet rooms and great service.
