Just doing some forward planning! In the past, when I have travelled in economy, as a QF Gold, I have been able to ring QF to allocate a seat and then ask them to seat my SO (on a separate PNR) next to me. Would there be any difference if she is booked on an AA codeshare on the same QF flight? Can QF still allocate her a seat next to me even though she is on the AA codeshare?

It cannot hurt to ask although QF may not be able to pre-allocate seats for AA codeshares as this would be handled by AA.

Your best bet may to try and get the best seat possible for your girlfriend (are you married/engaged yet?) from AA and then get QF to get a seat next to her. It will more than likely be down the back somewhere unless she has AA status but that is what can happen on separate PNRs. Alternatively you can try to get better seats at check-in.

This is what worries me...it will be a long flight, Syd-Lax.
... girlfriend (are you married/engaged yet?)
You are begining to sound like my mother:shock: "No" to both:p.

Well the best option may be to take the best of the worst seats available. Best bet would still be to call QF as they may be able to do something for a Gold.

Does your mother have a masculine voice? :p

Definetly call.My TA regularly gets us seats together with me on an AA ticket mrsdrron on a QF ticket.

Hands up those who saw the title to this post and were racking their brains to try and work out which airline SO was?

I do hope that you both are flying at least J on a 388 ;)

*deleted* read the OP's question incorrectly
I'm thinking of going to the Galapagos Islands next year....the costs of a week's cruise will certainly put pay to any thought about flying J!!

Great to know it can be done. Should be QF WP by then, which may help a bit more...;)

I'd have to say no, but more because I know kpc ad have met his SO, so instinctively knew who he was meaning. But I can now see your tangent...
