I couldn't remember reading about this on this forum & the search didn't show anything so I thought I would provide a link to a site mentioned in yesterdays SMH travel section. So Aust web site tripcover claims to offer a viable option to paying the extras to the car rental companies. Says they are looking at introducing an annual policy also.

Hi I was doing a search for Tripcover and I cam upon your post the link you might be looking for is tripcover .com. au (sorry I can't put he link in)
and BTW we think we do have a product that will change the market place of selling car rental excess cover.

I am responding to your post as Desmond Sherlock not Tripcover. Sorry about that

Im sure if you sorted it out with Admin, there would be no problem being the "official" spokesperson for Tripcover, there are in fact representatives from Qantas and Virgin on this site too, but htey have had it all ok'ed by site admin beforehand.

Sorry, but I do not know the process for example where is "Admin" link?

Which is the "notifications" tab on top right of the screen

Thanks I got it sorted. I have to admit I have found it very hard to participate on this site.
Like this is a very new product but a previous attempt to put a post about this problem with excess
cover was quickly deleted because of my lack of disclosure.

The post was on car rental excess insurance started in 2006 but 6 years on as far as I know we are the
first company to specialise in only selling this product and making it our mission to clarify this area of car rental.

After completing a survey send out this week, asking our clients what they thought about the high rates
that the car rental companies charge we got the following responses.

"Great to see a product that's been overseas come here. I think the excesses rental car companies charge are ridiculous and are just part of getting you to pay them more for the hire"
Suzanne N.

"Your policy provided me with the security of knowing I was covered if needed and will use it again. "
Bruce C.

"Extortion."
Robert F.

Renters are generally angry at high rate charged by rental companies. Your product has rectified this situation & will be a winner.
Peter O.

Time for a change and we want to facilitate it.

Who the insurance / re insurance company [money] behind this ?
Insurance is OK provided there is real money available to pay out many claims ( I have not looked at your web site)

Good question. We are underwritten by Allianz and managed by Allianz Global Assistance (they keep an eye on what I do, say, and at present I am forwarding
all policy registrations daily) so it is a very hands on approach as we move forward into this new area of insuring.
We are the first and only specialist (in Australia but is common in the UK) in this area and I have to admit "I'm excited!!"

The article we got in the SMH and The Age Traveller on the weekend quadrupled our traffic and doubled our bookings.
So I am really grateful to Robert Upe for his inclusion of our story in his Traveller article, Thanks mate!.

Hi RB, Des here from TripCover. I can now tell you that we have new rates and offer a 10% discount when you use your
Australian or New Zealand frequent flyer number.

I can't see any mention of an annual policy on your web site-any progress on that?

That is the thing when we are dealing with big organisations such as Allianz Global Assist, it takes time.
This is next on the agenda with them. A lot of people have asked me for this so I am pushing hard to get some result soon.
I would say another 2 months. Sorry!
