Well VA promised in the Double Status Credit Promo thread.....

Hi everyone,
It certainly is an interesting thread to read, interesting in that, its quite rare to find two segmented marketing groups discussing the different offers that they have been offered (or not offered in this case)!

Lets be clear about one thing, as an airline we are here to have more people flying with us, especially those that are true frequent flyers.
The status match program has enticed a lot of frequent flyers to 'look' at flying with us, and that's great.
What we need though, are people 'flying', and as a company, we will do what we can to ensure that you do that.

We absolutely are aware that the non-status matched Platinums and Golds haven't been included in this offer, and we're sorry about that.
Do we have other initiatives planned? Yes, and even though we are all great friends here in AFF, we aren't going to be letting any cats out of any bags!

Sorry to say that we cannot provide the highly sensitive information of future marketing plans.

We would hope that the good work and our continued support of the Australian frequent flying community would allow us some latitude to roll these plans out in due course.

Looks like DJ may be delivering, so for that I thank them




Only trouble for me is that the flight I booked was the return flight...........from our extravagant "DJ Appreciation" run on the 19th Nov! So in the end, I get no double SC bonus and no triple point bonus.........but hey, it's the thought that counts (and I can actually see the funny irony in this coincidence)

Nice one DJ (in all honesty) keep thinking of us and we may have to do another "DJ Appreciation" run, but if so, can you please run your plans over my desk first .

Well just quietly, I seem to have missed out on all the love so far...
No double SCs, triple points or quadruple vodka offers anywhere!

FWIW - I'm a BIS Platinum and have been from day one.

I also have plenty of travel booked with DJ over the next 3 or 4 weeks so maybe they don't think I need any extra incentive.

In the case of the SCs that's true - I'll get to over 500 by the year-end and then a Europe return with EY will see me well past the post to requalify, but I'd never say no to extra points...

Any other anecdotal evidence out there as to which members... (any level, status match or BIS) are being offered which blandishments to fly…

Have patience, I am sure your day in the sun will come and knowing Velocity, waiting will be a good thing because it will be a better offer!

Hate to burst your bubble - but when I received one of those last week I did a search on the forum, and lo and behold, they were doing this a couple of years back as well.
So I don't think this is a new thing - maybe just reinstated after a hiatus?

Me too! I have 8 flights booked to a total value of $2500+ on top of this I will be booking 2 more return flights before the promo end date.

I will be patient and see what offer comes the way of this BIS Platinum

I got this too. I have been trying to fly DJ more often but scheduling isn't always great. New offer means I have more incentive to book the next weeks flight with them!

Out of interest swanning it, have your dj flts decreased the past six weeks or so? Just trying to pick the logic of these offers. There must be a reason some are picked and not others

Yes, very astute of you! My flying in the last few months has been decimated. Gone from maybe 1 - 2 sectors a week to maybe 1 - 2 sectors a month ...........someone has mentioned a double dip (well sort of) recession. Does nothing for my industry I'm afraid and as much as it use to become a drag at times, I'm really missing it right now (in the wallet as much as anything).

Do you think DJ might be monitoring my FFer account and worry I've jumped the fence

I think the double dip recession is so true, we have had customers, who have been loyal for years, now choosing other companies over us for small $$$ Value. Everyone is trying to screw the prices down, or not spending at all. Thankfully, my business requires me to travel, and that hasn't changed, what has changed is my choice of carrier. If the job has to be done $slightly cheaper, then Where I previously would have selected a certain carrier based on preference, it is now very much $$$ based. Fortunately Virgin have got most of my business, as the fares have been good, hence not getting the offer obviously, however, on quite a few occasions I have also found myself on Qantas and even go forbid Jetstar
