My flight Washington (DCA) to JFK was delayed 2 hrs on the ground ( ie boarded) yesterday due to Mr Trump delaying his going to NY to dine with our Turnbull. Missed my Bermuda flight ( just waiting for the replacement flight now).

I learned that the standard cover for this type of delay at JFK is "runway maintenance".

Anyone else been been inconvenienced by Presidential or Prime Ministerial 'movements'?

Not delayed by anyone, though I have been in places around such movements.
Was in PEK a couple of years ago during an APEC meeting. My flight taxied past the parked VC25 (air force 1). A few weeks later, the Chinese President landed in CBR right after my flight did.

I've been within a few meters of Prime Ministerial motorcades in London and Tokyo, and was in Rome at the same time as Dick Cheney in 2008. Walked past the Colosseum while he was there and the secret service had the entire place closed off.

Last month in Seoul, the US VP was resident at the same hotel.

Any vehicle wishing access had to have it boot searched and PAX eyballed. The first night on fronting in a cab it cost me about 70¢ more while queued and having this occur (the were a couple more 0's when expressed in KRW).

So, I was 'Penced'! ...

Got caught in our rental car outside the Hilton on 6th Ave waiting for Laura Bush to leave.
Got stuck in the Waldorf Astoria for some time waiting for Bill Clinton and some sheiks to leave. It was a UN meeting week.

When I was in San Antone last October, Trump was campaigning there and snarled up the traffic quite badly.

My shuttle bus to the airport arrived early and the driver asked me if I would mind going straight away. No problem once he explained why.

We left and the highway was blocked in various places and trip was quite slow. The Trump plane was on an isolated parking bay and surrounded by various law enforcement personnel.

My plane left on time.

Got Obama'd a few years ago...... held prior to take off for a significant amount of time....AF1 was somewhere near.... not landing apparently...but nevertheless.....

Fortunately Id bought some cheapish First flights on UA (to credit to NZ) so it was reasonably comfortable waiting....

JFK gets all sorts of delays during the annual assembly at the UN. A pilot told me that a compounding factor is that ATC has to clear the way for super VIP and Head of state. Apparently they often get a direct vector instead of more complex approaches. Or maybe I misunderstood that last part...

I got Clinton'd in SYD ... talk about a waste of time and space!
