Hi,

I'm trying to book a one way reward seat from melbourne to dublin.

On the virgin website i understood this was 139k points

When trying to book it asks for 235k points or 139k points plus $627.

I understand there are taxes and charges, but I didn't think there would be 627 dollars of charges.

Is this right or am I not doing it properly?

I am going to assume the booking involves EY and as such, EY charge additional fees per sector which came into effect last year.

So yes, the 139000 points is correct and if flying EY, they impose the extra charges making it $627

Unfortunately the outrages charges on EY are correct and significantly devalue Velocity for these flights. On the plus side availability is usually pretty good

The extra charges are almost the same as the cost of buying the miles in Lifemiles, when a sale is on.
