Two bookings same dates different destinations

We have a wonderful points trip booked via Qantas . However son has decided that we need a family holiday at that time
Is there an issue with having husband and I booked on different trips over the same period ?
Just hedging our bets with holidays
I realise we would lose either cancellation points or dollars whichever way we go
