1) When waitlisted in J for a flight, it shows up in the online booking on the QF website as waitlisted. If in fact the seat does come through, does this status change to confirmed if and when a seat becomes available? Or will I only find out on check-in? Also, will the Y fare which I also booked be automatically cancelled? (I.e. are the two fares linked in some way or considered separate?)

2) Last trip I gave my QFF card to 2 hotel check-in's, but the points haven't come through yet for ether. It's been about 2 weeks which is the suggested waiting period on the QFF website. How long should one wait before faxing through a copy of the hotel invoice? Give it a solid month first? Do hotels batch up their QFF/rewards points claims on a monthly basis before sending them off to be processed? Hows it work?

Cheers.

1) Yes, if the travel agent has done their job properly (which most do), when the J seat comes through, the Y will cancel out automatically. You will see this at manage my booking via the QF website or on checkmytrip.com.

2) In my experience, hotels and valet parking are not the best at sending points to Qantas - that's because they have to pay Qantas money! I normally allow one month before faxing or posting copies to the QFF service centre which is located in Melbourne.
