UK Passport Renewal for Dual / Multi Citizens

Has anyone with dual / multi citizenship renewed a UK passport recently?

They now instruct you to send them all of your non-cancelled passports, "British or otherwise".

There's no way I'm sending them my other passports for God knows how long and I'm thinking of simply ignoring this requirement.

Just wondering if anyone else has experience of this and how rigorously it might be applied.

I wouldn't be comfortable sending them any other non cancelled passports either. It seems a strange request that I too would ignore.

I renewed mine in December last year - the requirement for all other passports wasn't there, so this seems new. We lodged at the Post Office and they sighted the relevant documents we had to provide, copied a coupe, and we got to keep them all. Maybe it's the same with the 'other' passports?

The turn-around was very quick... just three days for one passport and five for the other.

Unfortunately UK passport renewals are not done through Aus Post any more

Oh wow! The change was effective 13 January. Glad I got in before the change. The Post office was so easy, whole thing took 15 minutes for two passports.

Very interesting comments ! Since the use of fake Irish passports by Israeli Mossad agents which resulted in the murder of a person all Irish Passports now have to be reissued in Dublin resulting in my case a turn around of over 10 weeks ! There was no requirements to send any other country's passports to them as well ! I find this new requirement by Brittin a bit odd.

My parents have just renewed their British passports, and certainly didn't send their current Australian passports, just the British ones that were about to expire. The process has taken just over 10 weeks and they have just received email notification that their passports are about to be mailed back to them.

No, none at all, which just adds to my reluctance.

Whilst the UK Passport office might "strongly prefer" to receive any uncancelled non-British passports they will accept "a full colour photocopy of the entire passport (including visa pages)", reserving "the right to request the passport at a later stage as we examine your application".

Thanks, I missed that bit in the fine print.
I guess the implication is that they want to know your movements.

Well I'm pleased to report that my dumb and dumber act at the UK border was successful today.
Daughter no 3 had an expired UK passport (it expired in June 2013). We didn't notice until June 2014 and due to the much reported lengthy delays in renewal I made a conscious decision not to do so prior to us going to LHR. Massive line up at the non-EU channels so we went through the UK/EU channel and the Immigration Officer spotted the expired passport. After looking a tad surprised at being told this I produced her current Aussie one and we were processed promptly. Will renew passport onshore I think.
