Hmmm.... Three of my domestic flights scheduled for 767s have now been scheduled to be operated by 738/734. I now cannot select seats for those flights. Keep getting an error message although I have somehow managed to put in a plain aisle request for 1 of those flights. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Interesting that one of the flights is on Fri 23 December 2011 and has been substituted ~6 months out. Loads must be poor for a Friday afternoon flight to be substituted even though it is supposed to be the last working day before Christmas.

I had similar. In the end I took a gamble and chose to just preference aisle/window and confirmed, then the next time I tried to select seats it let me select seats again, and I selected the seats I wanted. Simple, haha. Then again I don't have nearly as many bookings as you I'd imagine!

I had a similar experience when they changed 767 version and the previous selected seat did exist on the new aircraft. I call up and got them to put me into a different seat, then all was good. Does you previously selected seat exist on the 737? If not, I'd suggest giving them a call.

I have had the issue in the past where me 24D, 25B on a 767 has morphed into a seat down the back on a 738/734 but I have since started pre-allocating JK seats on 767s but now I cannot change them.

It is no big deal and I can simply wait for until T-80 for thos flights but the point is Qantas is providing a feature and again is laden with bugs.

P.S I do not beleive there is an issue when you book a 738/734 in the first place as that allows advance seat selection. The issue appears when substituting aircraft.

I have exactly the same problem. While Sam's booking on the same flight seems to have sorted itself out, mine hasn't.
I called Qantas and was informed that I currently have the best seat avail that I could request. So while I am not seeing seats and it won't let me save a seat change, I am in a seat. Weird.
Was talking to OzBeachBabe about this the other night.

Can you see a seat number on MYB?

If not, you may like to checkout www.checkmytrip.com - this might show it (although thinking about it, possibly not).

No seat number of QF website. It will show me the sest map for the flight and I can click on a seat but as I click on Next the error message appears. I have other 738/734 flights with an allocated seat.

Strange indeed....

I've had that, where there has been a schedule change or whatever, and I haven't accepted the change (apparently).

Great suggestion Mark but I have not received an email with the schedule change and I do not believe I will receive one anyway.

So this might match what I was talking about, if you have selected a JK seat on 767 and the aircraft changes to 737 that JK seat doesn't exist on the 737. I suggest that you need to call up and get put into a seat on the new aircraft and then it'll work again.
In my case, I had a row 24 middle seat on a 767 and the aircraft change to a 767 without a 24 middle seat. I had to call up and get them to move me to a seat that existed on the new aircraft.. After that advanced seat selection worked again.

Not trying to be argumentative but this has happened to me many times in the past where the booking has reverted back to no seat allocation. I do not mind this as I can easily go back into the booking and request a new seat allocation.

Recently I have experienced that if an aircraft has been substituted from a 767 to a 737/734 then I cannot pre-select seats.

Again no big deal but I believe there is a bug that is not allowing seats to be selected and if Qantas was serious about customer service and benefits then they should fix it.

Jetstar selection is messed up as well, I mentioned that in another thread. Their engine says "unable to display seat map". We called Manila and they insisted we had to select seats online. After my wife had called twice I tried again and they finally agreed to waive the seat selection fee. They then advised me that there were no other seats apart from the back row where we were already seated.

I know there is little point to selecting seats on J* anyway but it was the principle that mattered.

Not being argumentative either. I am saying that I have experienced what you are experiencing, not being able to change a pre-selected seat when the already selected seat did not exist on the the new aircraft. After I rang QF and they put me in a seat, advanced seat selection worked again.

If you are selecting JK seats on a 767 and it changes to a 737, then the already selected seat does not exist on the new aircraft. That seems very much the same as what I had. Maybe a bug that should be fixed, but I'm just offering a work around.

Very strange indeed.

I called QF the other day and managed to allocate a seat on one of the flights and she was not able to allocate me a seat on the Christmas Eve flight.

In her words "On that flight 6C is the only seat allocated and it appears to be linked to your booking!". The seat allocation is not showing on my booking and when I click on Select Seats I can move around the cabin and 6C remains greyed out. Still cannot save a seat request on that booking.

Just had this happen for my 767 flight SYD to CNS on 3rd August, I had upgraded to J as i'd never been in that class on the 767 except internationally. Now i'm bummed because the return trip 8th Aug is 767 but I can't choose J upgrade even though there are heaps of J seats available.:(

Call QF and tell the agent you are unable to request an upgrade online. They should be able to submit if for you.

- and it is showing U9 so you your request should be successful!

I did that; he told me to try upgrade upon checkin in Cairns on the 8th

Now the cabin has only 2 spare seats:shock: Good day for Qantas, if you sell 7+ J seats 28 days out in less than 24hours
