Unable to use Amex for Avios redemption

Have been looking to book LHR-MAN flights so that I can take brother on Man City stadium tour during future trip.
Tried to book Avios flight but kept erroring out when went to pay taxes. Called BA last night who said system down and try later
However tried this morning, tried to pay with PayPal and it only gave me MC/Visa options. Ended up paying directly with MC
Curiously could book my own revenue flights fine with Amex

Pass. I seem to always have issues using my avois miles with BA. I have two 2 for 1 amex vouchers and just want to book a day return LHR-BHD. First attempt the website said I had to select a voucher. Well I had. Second attempt it let me select the flights I wanted and then it said no fares available. Third attempt it wanted to charge me money rather than use my avios.
